Digitize Your Receipts: How OCR Works in Invoicing Software
Stacking paper receipts in a drawer is the most common freelancer mistake. Every receipt is a potentially deductible expense you're letting slip away. OCR solves this in seconds.
What is OCR in invoicing?
OCR stands for Optical Character Recognition. It's technology that analyzes an image of a receipt and automatically extracts the data: supplier, date, amount, IVA... Without typing anything.
Does it work well with Spanish receipts?
Yes, especially with printed receipts. The system recognizes Spanish NIF/CIF formats, IVA types (21%, 10%, 4%), and dates in DD/MM/YYYY format.
How to use k-factu's OCR
1. Open k-factu on your phone and go to Expenses > Scan receipt. 2. Use the camera or upload an existing photo. 3. The system extracts the data in seconds. 4. Review fields marked in yellow (low confidence) or red (needs manual correction). 5. Choose the category and save.
Tips for best results
Place the receipt on a flat, well-lit surface. Capture the full receipt without cutting the edges. Avoid shadows and glare. Thermal receipts work best in daylight with good lighting.
Why does k-factu use Tesseract.js instead of a paid API?
Because that means OCR is free for you. No hidden per-scan cost. Processing is local (full privacy) and included in the Autonomo plan with no additional limit.
