Understanding QR codes on invoices
Under Verifactu, every invoice must include a QR code. This QR code allows anyone (your client, a tax inspector, or any third party) to verify the invoice's authenticity directly with AEAT.
The QR code contains: the invoice number, issue date, your NIF, the total amount, and a verification URL pointing to AEAT's service.
In k-factu, QR codes are automatically generated when you submit an invoice to Verifactu. The QR code appears on the PDF invoice and is stored in the system. You don't need to do anything extra — it's all automatic.
The QR code is part of the anti-fraud mechanism: it ensures that every invoice can be independently verified and that no invoice can be altered after issuance.
